In honour of Phillip Schofield’s absence from This Morning this week, a tribute was given.

During the Easter break, Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond will take over hosting duties, so the TV personality won’t be on the couch for a few weeks.

In light of his brother Timothy Schofield’s sexual assault prosecution, Phillip took this week off from work.

In Exeter Crown Court, Timothy Schofield, 54, is on trial for 11 sexual offences involving children between October 2016 and October 2019, including two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

The show’s official Instagram paid tribute to him today on his 61st birthday, saying: “Happy birthday Schofe from everyone at This Morning.”

That was accompanied by a photo of Phil smiling on the renowned set of the programme.

The show’s hosts on Monday and Tuesday were Alison Hammond and Holly Willoughby. Joel Dommett, host of The Masked Singer, filled in for Phillip on Wednesday and Thursday.

But after the Easter break, Phil and Holly are anticipated to return to the show.

On Thursday’s This Morning, Holly and Joel spoke with Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, about her most recent book, A Most Intriguing Lady.

The ex-wife of Prince Andrew revealed to the hosts that her book will be turned into a TV show and adapted for the big screen.

On standing by the Duke of York, the Duchess opened up: “Well, it’s Beatrice, Eugiene and I. We are a family unit. My girls stand for service, they hold and maintain very hard jobs and they are mothers and they are public figures, and they do charity work…

“They are extraordinary examples of princesses out in service, which is what their grandmother taught them and I taught them with humility. So I think the York family as a unit symbolises no judgement, kindness, and moving forward. To make people sit up and go, ‘Stop’. Stop always believing what you read. Walk forward as a unit and remain steadfast to that. Remember, I’ve been through difficult times and he’s always stood by me.”
