Fans of McDonald’s are shocked to learn the crucial component of the restaurant’s Sweet ‘n’ Sour dipping sauce.
With McDonald’s cuisine, people often know what they’re getting, but many have been surprised to learn that the main component of the fast food chain’s Sweet ‘n’ Sour sauce is actually an unexpected fruit.
In a viral TikTok viewed nearly 400,000 times, Evan-May Gillott (@evs_kii), expressed her shock after finding out what the ‘secret’ ingredient is.

She said: “Sweet ‘n’ Sour sauce, McDonald’s – am I the only one who didn’t know what fruit it’s made of?
“Have a guess…”
The obvious choice would be either pineapple, which is frequently used in sweet-and-sour dishes, or mango, which is frequently used in chutney.
As Evan-May explains, these answers would be wrong, as the Sweet ‘n’ Sour ingredient is in fact… apricot.
She exclaimed, “It’s f***ing apricot… it’s apricot,” in shock.
Hundreds of TikTok users posted their initial assumptions and shock about the apricot surprise in the comments area.
A commenter remarked: “I said mango SO confidently… I had no idea it was even a fruit.”
Another spectator responded, saying, “Honestly, I never even thought about it, I just ate it.
