Drivers With Dirty Cars Warned They Could Pay £200 More In Petrol

You better get cleaning your cars!

You may be spending more money on petrol than necessary if your car is as dirty as a pig that has spent all its time in a patch of mud.

The experts, at least, claim that a clean car uses less fuel because it is sleeker and more aerodynamic.

The Mirror was informed by Select Car Leasing’s managing director, Graham Conway, that tests had been conducted to determine the extent to which a car’s cleanliness affected its operation.

Although you may have been putting it off, it might be time to visit your neighbourhood car wash because that isn’t the only expense associated with owning a dirty car.

Depending on how much the muck covers, you might be fined up to £1,000 if the outside of your car is unclean.

Before leaving, you should absolutely check that your licence plate is visible because failing to do so could result in a large charge. Similarly, if your windscreen is dirty and obstructs your eyesight, you risk getting into problems and receiving a fine.

Conway discussed the findings of the trials conducted on unclean cars regarding how to save money on petrol.

He said: “A cleaner car is in fact more fuel efficient.

“Experiments found the vehicle was more fuel-efficient when clean, averaging two miles per gallon (mpg) more than when it was dirty.

“The average fuel mileage of the dirty car fell to around 24 mpg, while the clean car was 26 mpg.

“If you extrapolate that over an entire year, and with a driver covering around 8,000 miles, there’s a potential saving of around £200 annually just by keeping your car clean.”

Since cars are designed to be aerodynamic, a cleaner automobile will maximise its streamlined design and enable it to travel farther on a given amount of fuel.

Furthermore, even if it appears to be nothing more than a muddy cover, dirt can weigh down your automobile and increase your fuel costs.

Even though there would not be much of a difference, you would always choose the second automobile if you had to choose between two essentially identical vehicles that got 24 mpg and 26 mpg.

In the end, it seems like the preferable course of action to wash the automobile and maintain its condition by investing some time in this task.

As an added bonus you’ll also miss out on the silent judgment from other drivers.

Woman Crowned Owner Of ‘UK’s Filthiest Car’ Says All The Rubbish ‘Comes In Handy At Some Point’

She has the filthiest car in the UK!

Imagine having the country’s messiest car—we all have days when we get behind on cleaning.

One Essex woman who recently acquired the very depressing title of “UK’s filthiest car” must live with that fact.

Most people would be ashamed to have such a disorganised motor, but Lindy Winship is unafraid to admit it, adding that all the junk “comes in handy at some point.”

The 60-year-old woman and her husband currently reside on a farm in Manning Tree, Essex.

Given all the other chores at hand, it is understandable that her Saab Estate often receives little attention, resulting in the backseats being littered with snacks, drinks, and toys.

Other debris makes it difficult for passengers to get inside the car, including clothing, household items, and occasionally even a stray broom.

“She is affectively known as the graveyard as she’s used as a general run around and a mobile tip,” joked Lindy.

“Whatever needs clearing up or has been carried somewhere to clean up or repair around the farm, it all gets thrown in her,” added the farm owner. “My husband even has all the bad snacks and drinks in there too.”

The Saab appears to have seen better days, and the 60-year-old claimed that cleaning the vehicle is a “mammoth task” for which she needs at least a day’s notice.

Despite this, Lindy entered the ATS Euromaster contest without hesitation when her husband made fun of her “untidiest car in Britain.”

She won £200 in Amazon gift cards for taking first place in the tyre and service providers competition, which will go a long way towards cleaning up the messy motor.

After hearing how the Saab has turned into the family’s garbage can, it is unlikely that it will remain immaculate for very long.

“When my husband loses tools, I always say it’s probably in the graveyard, so a frantic search begins for a much-needed tool, which creates more mess!” Lindy admitted. “Apparently, everything in her comes in handy at some point.”

Other strong competitors included Rachel’s less-than-kid-friendly Hyundai i30 and Mel, whose Ford Fesita even had an unopened Amazon package inside.

While the competition was tongue-in-cheek, Paul Maynard from ATS Euromaster warned how dangerous dirty cars could be, saying: “As well as potentially obscuring a driver’s view out of windows or mirrors, if the driver needs to brake sharply the loose items could move forward and possibly interfere with the vehicle pedals and steering.”

He also said that driving recklessly while having a filthy interior can result in a £100 fine and a possible MOT failure.

At least we no longer feel as awful.

The notorious “Ghost car commercial,” which is actually an advertisement for an energy drink of all things and not a horror cinematic smash.

If you need a memory boost, the film shows a car travelling through a lovely rural area with winding, long roads, thick vegetation, and a few trees, which will eventually lead viewers to believe they are only taking in a scenic joyride.

But when the automobile vanishes beneath some woods, everything literally takes a turn.

The mother of all jump scares suddenly rips through the screen as viewers lean towards their pixelated YouTube screens, intrigued by the mystery.

It’s obvious that the image of the now-famous zombie-like person appearing abruptly in front of the camera, together with the phrase “You’ve never been so wide awake,” fading away as a can of the drink pumps like a heart, has become ingrained in each of our minds.

You can’t deny it is some very creative marketing, whether you like it or not.

The video has been shared and published numerous times over the years. The most recent was uploaded on X (a.k.a. Twitter), where it has received more than 1.6 million views in just one day.

The account, @NoContextBrits, captioned a screenshot from the advert: “Where my trust issues began.”

It was evident that the blast from the past resonated with hundreds of people online, as many eagerly shared their thoughts.

New Netflix Movie Is So Scary People Are Being Forced To Turn It Off After 2 Minutes

I dare you to watch it…

Netflix’s latest offering, “The Little Things,” has garnered such intense fear among viewers that some are switching it off within the first few minutes.

Recently added to the streaming platform, this Warner Bros. production is set in the 1990s and revolves around the investigation led by two police officers into a series of gruesome murders in Los Angeles.

As the narrative unfolds, the officers become entangled in a complex web of crime, deceit, and personal demons. Their pursuit of a serial killer evolves into a harrowing psychological journey, with each officer haunted by both the nature of the crimes and their own haunting pasts.

The movie’s synopsis encapsulates the plot: “Deputy Sheriff Joe ‘Deke’ Deacon joins forces with Sgt. Jim Baxter to search for a serial killer who’s terrorizing Los Angeles. As they track the culprit, Baxter is unaware that the investigation is dredging up echoes of Deke’s past, uncovering disturbing secrets that could threaten more than his case.”

Directed by John Lee Hancock, this American neo-noir crime thriller boasts a stellar ensemble cast that includes Academy Award winners Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto. Blending intense character study with suspenseful crime-solving, the movie offers a departure from the typical police procedural.

Indeed, “The Little Things” has made a significant impact on viewers, with some experiencing such anxiety that they felt compelled to turn off the film within the first few minutes.

One Twitter user expressed, “Watching ‘the little things’ on Netflix, and the first 2 minutes are so scary I’m not sure I can continue.” Another shared a similar sentiment, stating, “2min 52 sec into Netflix the little things & it’s made me so anxious I’ve had to turn it off.”

Meanwhile, other viewers lauded Denzel Washington’s performance, with one saying, “‘The little things’ on Netflix…….WOW, what a movie. Proper old school, Denzil Washington at his best.” Another fan enthusiastically commented, “Watched the little things on Netflix with my sister, and it was So Good!!!”

In an interview with Chicago Reel, Denzel Washington reflected on his role in the film and working alongside Rami Malek and Jared Leto, realizing how his place in Hollywood had evolved. He shared, “Watching, there’s a scene we shot with Jared and Rami, and they’re in the interrogation room. And I’m in the observation room. The cameras were all in there the first half of the day or whatever, and I’m just in the observation room, missing the popcorn, just watching these two young guys go at it. Whatever amount of years ago, 30 years ago, I was the young guy with Gene Hackman or whoever. But now I’m the guy watching the young guys. It was fascinating… to watch their joust if you will.”

However, despite receiving praise from some viewers, the film holds a relatively modest 45% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, suggesting that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

For those seeking a chilling thriller that will truly test their nerves, “The Little Things” beckons—if they dare.
