The Oldest Nightclub In The UK Still Sells Every Drink For 75p

The nightclub of our dreams is still around!

Watch Our Video Of The Week

All drinks are 75p at a nightclub often regarded as the oldest in the United Kingdom.

Nowadays, it’s challenging to operate a pub or a club.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, individuals were opting to stay at home and consume groceries they had purchased or were just choosing to stay at home as times were getting difficult.

Numerous locations were left empty throughout the pandemic and had difficulty drawing customers when things finally started to pick up again.

Although it’s somewhat of a national tragedy, some people always manage to go against the grain.

In a world where the dream of inexpensive beverages and sticky floors is gradually passing away, this is the story of one such shining light in the gloom.

Acapulco is still alive and well in Halifax, a post-industrial town in West Yorkshire, nestled into the Pennine Hills.

The Acapulco Club, which has been operating in “Fax since 1961, is frequently referred to as the oldest nightclub in the UK.

Given their longevity, they must be doing something right, which may be their choice to offer drinks for only 75p apiece before 11:00 p.m.

Imagine that—if you go to Acapulco, you could be enjoying nine drinks for the cost of pints in London frequently costing over £7.

It is named after the Mexican city and is far removed from the flash and glamour of some other nightclubs, but it nonetheless has a devoted following both within and outside of its own community.

On the official website, it reads: “Proudly recognised as the oldest nightclub in the UK, we’ve been setting the stage for unforgettable nights under the ‘Acapulco’ name since 1961.

“Often fondly referred to as ‘Acca,’ we’ve crafted a legendary atmosphere that has seen decades of smiles, dances, and memories.

“Our enchanting ambiance, coupled with our unbelievable offer of 75p drinks before 11pm every night we’re open, makes us an iconic destination for night owls and party enthusiasts.

“Step into Acapulco Nightclub, and be part of a legacy that brings the party to Calderdale!”

Therefore, ‘The Acca’ is open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and is free before 10:30pm if you’re making travel plans.

However, you’ll arrive earlier to benefit from the inexpensive drinks.

For those of a certain age, it’s a look back to a different time, and for those who are younger, it’s a peek at what used to be offered in small-town nightclubs.

We won’t know what we missed after locations like this are gone because they will already be gone.

We must make sure that we pass on to our offspring the legacy of cheap drinks, dubious music, and even dubier dancing.

They deserve it, and may the Halifax celebration last for a very long time.

Nightclub Fined Thousand For Offering Free Drinks To Women Based On Their Bra Size

This night club clearly had its favourites!

A $3897 (£2,019) fine has been imposed on Woolshed on Hindley for giving ladies free beverages based on their bra sizes.

South Australia’s Consumer and Business Services struck the Adelaide pub with a hefty fine for the sexist marketing.

The venue previously announced that ladies wearing an A-cup bra were entitled to one complimentary beverage, B-cup women could have two free drinks, and C-cup women could get three free drinks.

Can you believe this.

“The bigger, the better,” the now since-deleted post said on Facebook.

“Wearing a bra is so uncomfortable, hang it up in the shed and let loose … This means you as well boys.”

At the time, the promotion sparked fierce backlash from the public, as one Facebook user wrote: “This can’t be real.”

Another said: “We’ve just set the female gender back several decades.”

A third commented: “Who in their right mind in these days of political correctness would even consider this?”

While another joked: “I don’t know what is more outrageous – physical discrimination or the fact that people go to the Woolshed.”

Following the uproar, the venue issued an apology, which read in part: “We would like to address the concerns that have been raised regarding a recent social media post shared by our nightclub. We sincerely apologise for the fact that the post made some of our patrons feel uncomfortable and body-shamed as this was never our intention.”

It added: “Moving forward, senior management will be reviewing all promotional activity to ensure that it creates an inclusive environment for all our patrons.

“Your feedback is valued and helps us to create the environment that both our staff and patrons love so suggestions are most welcome.”

The venue violated the state’s General Code of Practise and Late Night Code of Practise, according to South Australia’s Consumer and Business Services, a department of the government that aids in consumer protection and regulates businesses.

“Gender-based promotions – including those that objectify people — are not only out of line with community expectations, but are in breach of this code,” Liquor and Gambling Commissioner Dini Soulio said, as per Daily Mail.

“Theme nights and other promotions can be a great way for licensed venues to attract customers, but there must be appropriate standards.”

Consumer and Business Services in South Australia also discovered that Woolshed on Hindley lacked enough CCTV cameras.

The country-style pub has modified its security system since the investigation to prevent receiving yet another fine.

Reason Your Brain Craves Cigarettes When You Drink

Have you ever wondered why you crave nicotine when drinking?

Why do we feel the want to smoke after consuming alcohol, especially if we don’t usually do so?

After a few beers, many of us have felt that familiar sensation where the want to smoke a cigarette suddenly appears in our thoughts and is impossible to resist.

It happens a lot more frequently than you may imagine, and people have been frantic to figure out why.

You’ve come to the right place if you’re one of these “social smokers” and have ever pondered where these annoying cravings come from.

According to Dr. John Dani, a neuroscientist and addiction specialist from the University of Pennsylvania, the desire to smoke while intoxicated stems from two different places.

First, he believes that nicotine ‘tricks’ the brain into creating memory associations between environmental cues – such as alcohol – and smoking behaviour.

“Our brains normally make these associations between things that support our existence and environmental cues so that we conduct behaviours leading to successful lives,” he explains.

“The brain sends a reward signal when we act in a way that contributes to our well-being.

“However, nicotine commandeers this subconscious learning process in the brain so we begin to behave as though smoking is a positive action.”

The neuroscientist also talks about his personal observations of coworkers who started smoking after consuming alcohol.

“I had known him for many years and never knew he smoked, but then he admitted he could really go for a cigarette,” Dr Dani continues.

“He said he hadn’t smoked in 20 years, not since high school. But now he has a few drinks and feels the urge to smoke.”

That is one factor, but there is also another one that contributes to the want to smoke when drinking.

It is well known that combining alcohol and nicotine can raise dopamine levels in the brain.

Once you’ve had a few, the combined effect of these two mechanisms makes cigarettes hard to resist.

This led Dr. Dani and his team to hypothesise that pairing nicotine with alcohol might result in even higher dopamine levels.

They were shocked by their findings, though, as they were in direct opposition to their theory.

They used rats as their test subjects and discovered that when the rodents were given nicotine, they consumed more alcohol.

However, it flatlined rather than raising their dopamine levels.

They came to the conclusion that consuming beer and cigarettes together will reduce your happiness.

The cycle begins when a person drinks because the alcohol triggers pleasant memories of smoking cigarettes and makes you crave some nicotine.

However, your dopamine levels fall after a few drinks while smoking.

The cycle then repeats itself as you feel the want to consume more alcohol to elevate dopamine levels that bring about bliss.
