Watch Our video Of The Week
Bridget Jones last hit our screens over 6 years ago with ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ and since then fans of the rom-com movie series have been asking…what happens next? Well it looks like we could be getting all the answers and more in a new addition to the series!
THE MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE RELEASES: COMING 2023
With the story originally centred on a single Bridget Jone in her 30s who keeps a diary about how she wants to improve her life, the well-liked movies went on to become some of the most recognisable rom-coms of our century. Welcoming big knickers, endless cigarettes, booze and romantic mishaps, Bridget resonated to a huge audience about being a woman in the 21st century and created some iconic movie scenes.
We last saw Bridget have a baby with and finally marry the man of her dreams, Colin Firth’s character Mark Darcy and it seems the next installment will center around Jones’s life as a mum based on the book ‘Mad About the Boy’.
WOMAN ‘TRAPPED IN THE BODY OF A CHILD’ INTRODUCES HER NEW LOVE INTEREST
The author of the four books based on the title character, Helen Fielding, informed the Radio Times that she had crosed her fingers that the new installment woul be adapted for the screen…and it did!
“Yes I’m working on it and I really hope it will happen. Every film that gets made is a miracle – it’s really difficult to make films happen and to make them good. But I’d love to see it on the screen.”
As well as the author the actress behind bringing Bridget to life, Renée Zellweger is also onboard for returning when she told SiriusXM ‘I hope so. I hope so. I mean, it’s fun, you know, she’s so much fun. I love being in her shoes. I mean, it makes me giggle, you know, every day on set the choices that we get to make about just how awkward we can make her circumstances. It’s just so much fun.’
The last film did tease the return of Hugh Grant’s character Daniel Cleaver who often causes problems with Bridget Jones’s love life with Mark Darcy so will we see him work his seductive charm on miss Jones’s once again or will she be too focused on the perils and pitfalls of motherhood and bringing up her son in the 21st century.

Reports surfaced that the actor was set to start filming this month however due to the writers strike this has been pushed back. Zellweger is in high demand and has reportedly signed on to two films which means the chances of getting Bridget filmes as well could be slight.
Whatever happens you can be we will be at the movies with a wine, a bar of chocolate cheering loudly for our favourite Mrs Jones!
