Home Alone fans got a jingle in their bells when they heard Macaulay Culkin’s voice for the first time in ages, and let’s just say, it was like unwrapping a surprise gift on Christmas morning.
The iconic child actor, now 43, strutted down the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday to accept his award.
The star-studded affair had everything from on-screen mom Catherine O’Hara to Disney actress and wife Brenda Song and their two adorable children, Dakota and Carson.
In an emotional rollercoaster of a speech, the man himself, Kevin McCallister (aka Macaulay), gave a shout-out to his leading lady, Brenda. He gushed, “You’re not only the best woman I’ve ever known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known. You’ve given me just all my purpose. You’ve given me family.” Cue the collective “aww” from the crowd.
And because no good speech ends without a surprise twist, he threw in a “Merry Christmas, you filthy animals” for good measure. Classic.
Now, despite Macaulay’s heartwarming tribute and bagging a spot on the Walk of Fame, some fans couldn’t help but press pause on the feels and hit rewind on that voice of his. “Macaulay Culkin’s voice really sounds like that?” one fan pondered.
Another asked, “Did they PUBERTY BLOCK Macaulay Culkin?”
Some eagle-eyed viewers couldn’t help but notice that Macaulay and his brother Kieran are basically voice twins.
“Macaulay Culkin and Kieran really do have the same speaking voice – omg,” exclaimed one fan. Who knew the Culkin family had a secret vocal harmony going on?
Then, in a heartwarming twist, Catherine O’Hara took the stage, making it a Home Alone reunion that warmed our chilly December hearts. The actress fondly touched Macaulay’s face, reminiscing about the good ol’ days.
She declared Home Alone a global sensation and Macaulay the reason families can’t resist watching it every year.
“Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” she declared, wrapping up with a proud mom moment.
And there you have it, folks – a Hollywood tale filled with emotions, surprises, and a voice that’s got everyone doing a double-take. Macaulay Culkin, you filthy animal, congratulations on your well-deserved star!
People Are Only Just Realising Who The Cop In Home Alone Is
Some Home Alone fans are only now realising who plays the police officer at the beginning of the movie after more than 30 years and numerous rewatches.
Home Alone was first published 32 years ago, to be exact. Therefore, even individuals who were just in their infancy when the McCallister family left on their vacation without Kevin are old enough to have seen the movie more than two dozen times by the time they reach adulthood.
Why, then, did it take so long for people to realise that the police officer is someone we are extremely familiar with?
The police officer first appears when the opening credits are rolling in the movie. The multiple McCallister children can be seen running through their enormous home while he tries to attract someone’s attention, only to be constantly told that their parents aren’t present.
“All kids, no parents, probably a fancy orphanage,” we hear him say. The policeman eventually succeeds in getting Kevin’s father’s attention and informs him that there are “a lot of burglaries around the holidays,” so he wants to make sure the family is taking the appropriate security measures.
The father confirms that the household’s lights and door locks are on timers, and his wife then lets slip that the family will be departing for their vacation the next morning. All of this information may be helpful to someone who intends to rob the house.
The police officer’s identity isn’t exactly concealed in the movie, but allegedly some spectators didn’t recognise him when he reappeared later. You see, Harry, one of our Wet Bandits, is the cop’s partner in crime in addition to being a police officer.
If you were among those who believed something to be obvious, you probably find it unbelievable that anyone could have overlooked it. But they did, and they acknowledged it on Twitter.
“just found out the “cop” from home alone was THE ROBBER IN THE MOVIE i’m a f***ing idiot,” one baffled person wrote,
While another wrote: “did u guys know the cop from home alone was also the robber.”
Joe Pesci plays both the cop and the robber, thus it stands to reason that Harry was even more shocked to discover Kevin at home given that his entire family had been expecting to travel for the holidays.
Thankfully, Kevin’s amazing booby traps defeated the robber.
