Coco Lee, a Hong Kong-born singer and Disney’s Mulan film star has passed away at the age of just 48.
Following a suicide attempt at her home over the weekend, the famous actress passed away in a Hong Kong hospital on Wednesday, her family released a statement.
Her older sisters Carol and Nancy Lee published a statement on social media stating that she had been dealing with severe depression for a number of years.
In a statement her sisters said ‘Although, Coco sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her’
As well as by her family Lee has been remembered by her fellow singer-songwriter Wang Leehom, who called her the “biggest star” in an Instagram post.

A well as a music career spanning nearly 30 years with chart hits all over the world, Coco Lee voiced the character of Fa Mulan in the mandarin version of Disney‘s Mulan and sang the main theme song ‘Reflection’.
As well as these huge career achievements she also sang the Oscar-nominated song ‘A Love Before Time’ which was the theme song from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon making which starred Michelle Yeoh.
Despite her struggles her contributions to the entertainment industries will always be remembered in some of the iconic roles she performed in and the passion and talent she had.
