Reese Witherspoon may be best known for her role as a ditzy lawyer in Legally Blonde, but she has a brilliant strategy for making millions of dollars.
Despite having made most of her money as a performer in films like Walk The Line and Cruel Intentions, the A-Lister has also started producing.
Witherspoon actually chooses her films extremely strategically, which has significantly increased her cash account in recent years.
“I feel bamboozled,” a fifth said.
And yet another person said, “I wish I didn’t know this piece of information.”
The performer, who previously played the renowned Elle Woods, returned to the role and took on the position of producer for the much awaited sequel.
Although it wasn’t as profitable as the first Legally Blonde, which brought in over $125.9 million, Witherspoon was inspired by the experience to take on more work and founded the production firm Pacific Standard in 2012.
She has even contributed to contemporary films and TV shows like Big Little Lies and Wild that feature strong female leads.
However, the actress’s decision to choose these screenplays isn’t solely motivated by feminism; the Louisiana native has also developed an incredibly sophisticated process of selection.
Witherspoon will speak with publishers about yet-to-be-published books and offer to promote them through her book club rather than waiting for the appropriate project.
Variety interviewed her about her intelligent business strategy, and she revealed: “I let it be known I wanted to see material… Additionally, I don’t believe many other organisations were out there looking for properties primarily with female leads, which is what we are specifically seeking for.
She will be able to successfully negotiate the rights to adapt any well-known novels to cinema and television thanks to the enormous sales produced by her book club, which has more than 2.5 million subscribers.
As if that weren’t cunning enough, she will utilise her book club to determine which book is the “best” in order to create even more profitable content.
After that, the cycle starts all over again, with proceeds from her numerous shows flowing back to the book club—well, you get the picture.
It’s quite impressive that Witherspoon allegedly managed to obtain a copy of Gone Girl before it was published in 2012.
Witherspoon served as producer on the 2014 picture, which received numerous accolades and was a great hit for the producer’s studio. David Fincher had previously adapted the suspenseful thriller.
According to Forbes, the mother of three is said to be worth an astounding $440 million, and as she adapts additional books, that sum is only expected to increase.

Great news, Legally Blonde fans! Reese Witherspoon is stepping back into the fabulous shoes of Elle Woods for a third installment of the iconic film, and it’s happening more than two decades after the first one hit the big screen. Can you believe it? I’m already doing the bend and snap in excitement!
Now, since it’s been quite a while since Elle’s last legal escapade, there are some changes coming our way in this third Legally Blonde installment. For starters, we’ve got a fresh team of writers cooking up a brand-new plot, and Reese herself is getting her hands into the production mix, which can only mean amazing things are on the horizon. But hold onto your pink, fluffy pens, because there’s more to uncover!
Guess who’s writing the script? None other than Mindy Kaling! Back in 2020, Deadline spilled the beans that Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor were tasked with crafting the script for this highly anticipated movie. And now, Variety tells us that the script is ready to roll, but they’re keeping the juicy details under wraps.
But the most exciting news of all? Reese is reprising her role as Elle Woods! And rumor has it that Elle’s famous sequined bikini, the one she rocked while applying to Harvard, might just make a sparkling comeback. Remember June 7, 2018? That’s when Reese posted a video of herself floating across a pool, Elle Woods-style, on Twitter, along with the words, “It’s true.” Talk about an epic way to drop the news, right?
Now, about that release date we were all looking forward to. According to Variety, we were supposed to see Legally Blonde 3 in theaters on May 20, 2022. The original cast even confirmed it in a reunion video. But, as you might have guessed, things didn’t go as planned, and production got put on hold.
Mindy, one of the scriptwriters, explained on the Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi podcast on September 20, 2023, that the writers’ strike was one reason for the delay. She also highlighted the challenge of living up to the cultural legacy of the franchise, given the changes in the world since the last movie.
Reese’s busy schedule didn’t help either. She’s been juggling a slew of shows and movies, making it tough to squeeze in her Elle Woods duties. Mindy reassured us that Reese loves the character and is committed to making it just right, even if it takes some extra time.
As for a new release date, well, we’re still waiting for that news. But here’s a silver lining: Jennifer Coolidge is making a grand return! In April 2022, Mindy spilled the beans that Jennifer Coolidge will “1,000 percent” be back for the third movie, and she’s got a juicy storyline in store for her character, Paulette.
So, while we’re in this waiting game for Legally Blonde 3, let’s keep our hopes high and our pink wardrobes at the ready. Elle Woods and her fabulous crew will be back to dazzle us once more, and it’s going to be worth every second of anticipation! Remember, Elle can be anything, from a Supreme Court Justice to a powerful attorney – the possibilities are endless, and the excitement is off the charts!
