Reese Witherspoon may be best known for her role as a ditzy lawyer in Legally Blonde, but she has a brilliant strategy for making millions of dollars.
Despite having made most of her money as a performer in films like Walk The Line and Cruel Intentions, the A-Lister has also started producing.
Witherspoon actually chooses her films extremely strategically, which has significantly increased her cash account in recent years.
“I feel bamboozled,” a fifth said.
And yet another person said, “I wish I didn’t know this piece of information.”
The performer, who previously played the renowned Elle Woods, returned to the role and took on the position of producer for the much awaited sequel.
Although it wasn’t as profitable as the first Legally Blonde, which brought in over $125.9 million, Witherspoon was inspired by the experience to take on more work and founded the production firm Pacific Standard in 2012.
She has even contributed to contemporary films and TV shows like Big Little Lies and Wild that feature strong female leads.
However, the actress’s decision to choose these screenplays isn’t solely motivated by feminism; the Louisiana native has also developed an incredibly sophisticated process of selection.
Witherspoon will speak with publishers about yet-to-be-published books and offer to promote them through her book club rather than waiting for the appropriate project.
Variety interviewed her about her intelligent business strategy, and she revealed: “I let it be known I wanted to see material… Additionally, I don’t believe many other organisations were out there looking for properties primarily with female leads, which is what we are specifically seeking for.
She will be able to successfully negotiate the rights to adapt any well-known novels to cinema and television thanks to the enormous sales produced by her book club, which has more than 2.5 million subscribers.
As if that weren’t cunning enough, she will utilise her book club to determine which book is the “best” in order to create even more profitable content.
After that, the cycle starts all over again, with proceeds from her numerous shows flowing back to the book club—well, you get the picture.
It’s quite impressive that Witherspoon allegedly managed to obtain a copy of Gone Girl before it was published in 2012.
Witherspoon served as producer on the 2014 picture, which received numerous accolades and was a great hit for the producer’s studio. David Fincher had previously adapted the suspenseful thriller.
According to Forbes, the mother of three is said to be worth an astounding $440 million, and as she adapts additional books, that sum is only expected to increase.

Reese’s busy schedule didn’t help either. She’s been juggling a slew of shows and movies, making it tough to squeeze in her Elle Woods duties. Mindy reassured us that Reese loves the character and is committed to making it just right, even if it takes some extra time.
