When buying and using oil we as consumers often often the bottle by pulling the ring pull and then throwing this away. However a video posted to TikTo has shown what the ring pull is for and that we have been using it wrong for years!

Following their discovery of the new technique for pouring oil, after seeing the TikTok video by @foodies WHY DO I LEARN EVERYTHING ON TIKTOK 👁👄👁 #foodies (via @cetzys ♬ original sound – Foodies “>Foodies, many people commented they had been ‘living a lie’.

The first shot of the video shows someone removing the ring-pull lid on an oil bottle. Then it shows that the cap may really be utilised to measure the oil rather than being discarded.

The cap serves as a barrier to regulate the flow of oil out of the bottle by being reinserted into the opening at the top of the bottle, turned upside down, and then the oil is poured out.

Home cooks who utilise this easy tip can better manage their oil usage and stop it from overflowing and wasting their product.

People were going wild in the comments so shocked at such a simple discovery.

One tikoker commented on the video: ‘How didn’t I know this until right now?!’

Another person responded: ‘So I don’t have to deal with the whole glug glug thing?’

While a third commented ‘Why don’t they say this on the bottle? It makes sense!’

An angry user also commented ‘Why didn’t I see this five minutes ago, I just threw mine away!!’

Well there we have it…seems that the product packaging designers of oil knew EXACTLY what they were doing and we’ve learnt something new to try in the kitchen!
