A motorist in Thailand must make amends with his wife after abandoning her at the side of the road and making her walk 20 kilometres (12.5 miles).

Relationship disputes are rather frequent, and the majority are the result of minor issues that may be resolved with an apology. Although it could require a whole other level of grovelling to leave a loved one on the side of the road.

After leaving his wife Amnuay Chaimoon, 49, stranded on Christmas Day, Boontom Chaimoon, 55, may need to extend his sincere regrets to her.

On Christmas Day, the couple was travelling through the night to Maha Sarakham in Thailand when, according to the Thai news site Matichon, Boontom stopped at the side of the road to waste himself.

According to the local newspaper Daily News, Amnuay initially wondered why her husband didn’t pull over at a gas station they had just passed, but she quickly realised she needed to go.

When she returned to the wayside after taking care of business in the privacy of the bushes, she was horrified to discover that her husband and their car had vanished.

Boontom Chaimoon, 55, had driven nearly 100 miles before he was alerted that he’d left his wife behind

Amnuay set out on foot toward the Kabin Buri neighbourhood, which was 12.5 miles (20 km) from where she had been left, naturally a little anxious about being abandoned at the side of the road at three in the morning.

Two hours later, at 5:00 AM, she arrived at her location. She then had the hassle of contacting her husband, who seemed unaware that she was no longer in the car with him.

The police tried contacting Amnuay’s other family members because Amnuay had left her phone in a bag in the car and didn’t have Boontom’s number.

According to Thailand Posts English, Boontom eventually received notification that he had completed the majority of the route alone when he was contacted at 08:00 AM, 99 miles (159 km) distant in the Korat region.

He drove to meet his wife after discovering what had transpired, presumably feeling bad, and explained that he had missed her because he had assumed she was asleep in the rear seat of the car.

All seemed to be forgiven between the duo after he profusely apologised, according to Amnuay, who also revealed that they had been married for 27 years and have a 26-year-old son together.

Amnuay is one of the most understanding persons in the world, so it would appear that everything worked out in the end.
