RIP Twitter! The famous social network, has come to an end! Elon Musk has killed off the iconic blue bird and Twitter has undergone a major rebranding and adopting a sleek “X” design. The white X on a black background has already replaced the blue bird on the desktop version, with plans to roll it out to the mobile app soon.

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, revealed that the platform’s posts will now be called “x’s,” marking a departure from the traditional “tweets.” The billionaire has been vocal about his vision to create a “super app” named X, signaling a bold move towards revolutionizing social media.

Greggs have jumped on the rebrand train with their tweet. “#TwitterX walked so GreX could run.”

Mr. Musk changed his profile picture to the new logo and updated his Twitter bio to include “X.com,” solidifying the platform’s new identity. He expressed that the rebranding should have happened much earlier, and his excitement for the transformative potential of X.

Channel 4 and ITV have been amongst the many quick to mock the rebrand.

The change comes as Twitter co-founder Biz Stone had named the blue bird “Larry” in honor of basketball legend Larry Bird back in 2011. People on Twitter shared mixed reactions, with some mourning the loss of the beloved bird logo, including designer Martin Grasser, who originally crafted it in 2012.

The rebranding signifies Twitter’s ambition to further impact global communication and marks a significant step in its evolution as a social media giant. The X logo was projected onto the side of Twitter headquarters in San Francisco, signaling a new era for the platform as X Corp takes center stage.

Marques Brownlee responded to the rebrand tweeting ” I’m still gonna call it Twitter” to which Musk Replied “Not for long”
