There are clearly differing views after a wedding DJ revealed the music that a couple of newlyweds asked not to be played on their special day.
Given that it’s one of the most significant days of their life, many engaged couples will understandably carefully arrange every aspect of their wedding, even down to the songs they truly don’t want to hear.
Not everyone concurs with Matt “Rybar” Hribar, also known on TikTok as @hribstar, who revealed the music that a certain couple had removed from their wedding.
Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” opens the list of prohibited songs. According to Matt, this song is frequently banned from wedding days because it is “overplayed” and frequently utilised during the bouquet, so it makes sense that some couples wouldn’t want it on their big day.
Matt continues: “Number two: no ‘Uptown Funk’ by Bruno Mars. We’ve seen that before.
“No ‘Happy’ by Pharell. Agree.”
However, the list of “songs” expands in this instance because the fourth bullet item prohibits any music by Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, or One Direction. This couple really don’t like Mr Mars, do they?
Matt goes on: “I think what these three have is ‘popular male, pop vocalist’ – so you know – that just isn’t the vibe for them.”
Nevertheless, when we reach the fifth bullet point—Beyoncé is also prohibited from their wedding playlist—it’s certain to make you feel like the cat among the pigeons, or the cat among the Beyhive.
Yes, the pair wants nothing to do with the multi-award-winning singer during their wedding, not only “Single Ladies.”
“That is really interesting,” Matt notes as he rounds up the list.
And it seems that plenty of folks agree with one TikTok user commenting: “First of all, I can understand Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, but One Direction? That’s a crime.”
Another wrote: “When clients say no Beyoncé it is an immediate [red flag].”
A third asked: “No Beyoncé and Bruno Mars? Do they hate fun?”
Someone else joked: “clearly if you dance at this wedding you get thrown out.”
Some even claimed that their own lists resembled the no play list, but others felt it was very solid.
Oh, and if you’re curious about the couple’s “must play” list, you’re in luck since Matt also provided it, which included “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran, “Hung Up” by Madonna, “Without Me” and “Shake That” by Eminem, and “Turn Me On” by David Guetta.
The duo also demanded to hear Chris Brown’s “Kiss Kiss,” Jay Sean’s “Down,” and Cascada’s “Because the Night.”
