Britney Spears has announced she is expecting her third child.

On Monday, the Toxic singer, 40, confirmed on Instagram that she is having a child with her partner Sam Asghari, revealing that she took a pregnancy test after gaining weight following the couple’s recent vacation to Hawaii.

“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back,” Spears wrote, adding that Asghari, who she referred to as her husband after a possible secret wedding this year, suggested she was “food pregnant”.

“So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby,” Britney continued.

“It’s growing!!! If two are in there … I might just loose [sic] it,” Spears wrote.

Spears has stated that she will not be out much in public because she does not want the paparazzi to grab their “money shot” of her pregnancy.

Spears went on to state that she had perinatal depression when she was pregnant before, adding, “I have to say, it is absolutely horrible.”

She did, however, mention that culture has changed and that it is now more common for women to talk about their perinatal depression issues.

“Women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her,” Spears wrote. “But now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret.”

Spears ended the tweet by telling her fans and followers that she intends to do yoga every day while she is pregnant.

Spears’ pregnancy announcement follows a post on Instagram last month in which she hinted at the prospect of having more children, captioning a photo of herself topless in the sea with the phrase, “Planning on having babies in Polynesia.”

Despite her desire to have additional children, Spears claimed in a Los Angeles court hearing that she was not allowed to remove her IUD implant birth control device during her 13-year conservatorship.

“I have an IUD in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out,” she told the court in June 2021. “I feel ganged up on. I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone.”

“I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” she added.
