The Barbie Movie releases this month and if you didn’t know that…where have you been?! With possibly one of the biggest ad campaigns seen in modern cinema history, the Barbie Movie is all anyone is talking about.
With a huge amount of Hollywood A-listers having credits in the films as well as the main duo Ryan Gosling as Ken and Margot Robbie staring in the titular role – we certainly can’t wait!

But did you know that Margot Robbie wasn’t the first choice to play everyone’s favourite doll Barbie when the movie was first thought about in 2017? The actress who was first pitched to lead this project was in fact actress AND comedian Amy Schumer.

The comic actress, 42, was said to be playing the movie’s title role in Greta Gerwig’s much awaited live-action film and later confirmed her exit from the project due to scheduling conflicts.
But in a subsequent interview, Amy claimed that ‘creative disagreements’ rather than schedule conflicts were to blame for her leaving the film before a new crew took over.

During her appearance on the TV show ‘Watch What Happens Live’, Amy said:‘I can’t wait to see the movie, I think it looks awesome. But there’s a new team behind it and it looks like it’s very feminist and cool so will be seeing that movie’.
She went on further clarify: “I think we said it was scheduling conflicts… That’s what we said but it really was just creative differences.”
It’s amazing to hear such honesty from an actress in Hollywood for such a high profile and well renowned project such as Barbie. Although we can’t contain our excitement for the new Barbie Movie we would have loved to see how Schumer’s version would have played out.
