Since its July 21 debut, “Barbie,” which has shattered multiple box office records, has broke yet ANOTHER.
The movie about the famous doll, which was directed by Greta Gerwig, has surpassed “The Dark Knight,” which held the record for Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing domestic US release in 2008, to claim the top spot.

Following its $1 billion milestone less than two weeks ago, “Barbie” crossed the $1.2 billion mark globally on Wednesday, according to CNN. When adjusted for inflation, only about 50 films have ever accomplished this feat, according to Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore.
Gerwig has become the highest-earning female director in film history as a result of Barbie with rumours she may be signed on to complete a sequel.
Now there is just one film which stands between Barbie and the top spot on the highest EVER grossing film for Warner Brothers. Can you guess what it is?
It’s ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2′ which has remained at the top spot since it’s release in 2011 however with barbie continuing to remain at the top of the box office week after week it might not be long before they have a new best seller!

The film is also still on a clear course to exceed Universal Pictures’ “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which has earned $574.2 million in the US since its premiere on April 5th!
However it must be made clear that these figures don’t account for inflation which massively affects ticket prices and how much much ‘gross profit’ the films are making.
Not too bad for Margot Robbie though who has reportedly been set to make $50 million dollars from the Barbie movie let along the brand deals!
The film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken has been a cultural moment in 2023 and has people asking if there will be a sequel to the movie! The film has created tie in products with a range of brands and film fans can now even by a ‘Weird Barbie‘ based on Kate McKinnon’s character from the movie.
We hope there’s a new adventure in Barbieland in the future but until then we will continue to be obsessed with this movie!
