The One Direction star has been rushed to hospital with a ‘serious health issue’.

Liam Payne, 30, rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction in 2010 after entering the British TV series The X Factor. He’s gone on to have a solo career, having released tracks such as ‘Strip That Down’.

Payne previously disclosed that his eagerly anticipated gigs will be postponed, and it has since been made known that he is currently undergoing medical care.

The ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ singer is being treated at a hospital in Italy, where it is expected he will remain for around six days.

The One Direction member apparently had a “serious health issue” and was brought to the hospital while visiting Lake Como in Italy with his 23-year-old girlfriend Kate Cassidy.

It’s reported that doctors are looking into the persistent issue.

A source claims to The Sun: “Liam is in a bad way but he’s in the best place he can be and finally doctors will be able to get to the bottom of what is going on.

“Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days.”

Many of Payne’s fans have taken to social media and wished the star well, hoping that he gets better soon.

“Manifesting that Liam Payne will get better soon,” one fan pens.

Another adds: “If Liam Payne isn’t OK I will be crying wherever I am in college.”

Somebody else writes: “If Liam is not OK, I am NOT OK.”

Payne announced the heartbreaking news that he had to postpone his tour of South America on Instagram last month.

In a video message to his followers, he disclosed: “I’ve spent the last week in the hospital with a bad kidney infection. The doctors have told me to rest and heal because it’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

“I was beyond excited to come play for you guys.

“To all of you who have bought tickets: I’m so sorry.”

Payne also disclosed that he had spent 100 days at a rehab centre in Louisiana and that he now has “more of a grip on life” earlier this year.

Before One Direction broke up, the singer talked openly about their time on tour and how he frequently emptied minibars.

“I just needed to take a little bit of time out for myself actually because I kind of became somebody who I didn’t really recognise anymore,” Payne told fans.
