Most Popular Baby Names 2022 List Sees Amber Drop Off

Some formerly well-liked entries are no longer among the top 100 baby names for 2022.

According to the yearly ranking published by BabyCentre UK, Muhamed has maintained his position as the top boy for the past six years. However, when it comes to the girls, Lily has definitely taken the role of Olivia.

Despite appearing at number 89 on the list from the previous year, the name Amber has completely disappeared.

Some fans speculate that this may be related to the well-publicized defamation action that Amber Heard filed against her ex-husband, Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp.

The latter did not fare much better, as it was completely omitted off the list for the second consecutive year.

It appears that the top 100 may have been impacted by the “Wagatha Christie” trial, which implicated Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy.

Along with Wayne, who is also absent, neither of their names are there on the list.

The rating appears to have improved as a result of The Queens Platinum Jubilee, with the name Elizabeth moving up from 86 to 84.

While Harry is ranked at number 12 and George is still firmly entrenched in the top 10 for the boys, William and Charlotte have also profited from the historic event by moving up the charts.

The names Kate, Meghan, and Catherine, however, have not benefited and are not present.

Both for boys and girls, there have been many fresh and pleasantly popular additions to the list.
