According to Thai news source Matichon, Boontom Chaimoon and Amnuay Chaimoon embarked on their journey on Christmas Day, intending to drive through the night to reach her hometown in the province of Maha Sarakham, located in central northeastern Thailand.

While on their journey, Boontom, aged 55, pulled over their Isuzu pickup to answer nature’s call.

Taking advantage of the stop, Amnuay, aged 49, decided to also relieve herself by disappearing into a nearby thicket for a quick restroom break.

However, upon her return to the road, Amnuay discovered that Boontom and their vehicle had vanished, leaving her stranded in the darkness.

To complicate matters further, she had neither money nor a phone with her, which necessitated her search for assistance on foot.

Thirteen miles later, approximately a half marathon’s distance, Amnuay arrived in the town center of Kabin Buri, where she found a police station around 5 a.m.
