Fashion Designer Vivienne Westwood Dies At 81


It has been reported that Vivienne Westwood, a renowned British fashion designer and activist, passed away today (December 29) at the age of 81.

“Vivienne Westwood died today, peacefully and surrounded by her family, in Clapham, South London,” a message posted on her official Twitter page read. “The world needs people like Vivienne to make a change for the better.”

In the 1970s, Westwood was a crucial component of the British punk scene, shaping the subculture with her apparel. She started by designing clothing for SEX, the Chelsea store she co-owned with Malcolm McLaren, and later began dressing Sex Pistols, a band that McLaren was in charge of.
