Tom Hanks is everywhere!
Watch Our video Of The Week
It’s no secret that Tom Hanks is a skilled actor, but he seems to be so gifted that he was able to convince audiences that each of his several Polar Express personas was performed by a separate actor.
After being introduced to Hanks through his portrayal of Woody in Toy Story a few years prior, children heard the actor’s voice once more in the 2004 christmas movie about the train to the North Pole.
Chances are you knew Hanks as the voice of the train conductor whether you were a “I love this movie!” or a “what is this terrifying story?” viewer.
Given that the animated character also physically resembles Hanks, it would be difficult to overlook, so we can cross that one off the list. Did you, however, notice the other personalities he brought to life?
The Forrest Gump actor played not just one but five other personalities throughout the course of the film. I’ll see you back here in a moment if you want to take a brief one hour, 40 minute break to watch it and try to find them all.
If you just want me to tell you the characters, then stay with me.
Along with the conductor, Hanks can also be heard speaking as the homeless man who wanders around on top of the carriages, bringing to life a crucial character for a Christmas movie: Santa Claus.
His job didn’t end there; he also provided the voices for the Scrooge puppet, Hero Boy’s father, and the main character’s earlier iteration, Hero Boy.
After making this realisation this month, 18 years after the film was released, one fan wrote: “Also discovering Tom Hanks wasn’t just the conductor but hearing his voice in several different parts of this movie and googling it to find he did SIX CHARACTERS IN THIS MOVIE??? This is and has always been a Tom Hanks stan account. Polar express slander will not be tolerated.”
Another surprised viewer wrote: “The Polar Express? Oh, you mean “it took me 21 years to realize Tom Hanks voices almost all of the male characters in this movie”?”
Hanks previously discussed the decision by director Robert Zemeckis to cast him in a variety of roles, telling IGN that there was a point when Zemeckis offered he play every character in the movie.
He explained: “Bob at one point said ‘I think you should play every role in this movie because then we could do it. You could play every role!’ Forgive me, Bob. But I said, ‘Well, wait a minute. There’s girls in this movie. I’m going to play every elf?’ He said, ‘Yeah, it’ll be great.'”
Hanks stated there was “only so much that [he] can internally grasp as an actor,” despite the fact that I’m sure he would have done a fantastic job voicing each and every character.
He continued: “On the day of tests that we did I played five or six or seven roles in the course of that day, and I said, ‘Bob, I’m exhausted here.'”
Although the movie is already somewhat crazy, I have to admit it would have been amusing to hear Hanks portray the many different personalities.
Johnny Depp In Talks To Star In ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Live Action Movie
Could Depp be making his return to Disney?
Later this year, Disney’s most well-known Halloween-themed movie will commemorate 30 years since it first opened in theatres…where did the time go we don’t know?!
Disney’s The Nightmare Before Christmas wasn’t initially a movie the famous House of Mouse wanted to make; instead, it was motivated by a poem that producer Tim Burton wrote while working as a Disney animator.
Even though the movie’s first theatrical run only brought in $50 million, repeated screenings over the years brought in a total of more than $40 million extra. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas wasn’t a hit, but it wasn’t a flop either, and in the 30 years since its release, it has continued to draw new admirers and even developed some cult status.
People love combining the elements of Halloween and Christmas and Jack and his Halloween town friends have become a worldwide brand that is loved by many from bags, to clothing, home accessories and even snow globes!
A live-action remake is allegedly in the works, and it has the potential to draw both new and old fans—particularly those who might find the new live-action version more intriguing than the original, given that Johnny Depp is rumoured to be playing the lead role.
Watch a Fan made video here:
Depp has been in the public eye over the recent years due to his divorce to ex wife Amber Heard, his standing ovation at Cannes film festival and for playing as part of the band ‘Hollywood Vampire’ opposite Alice Cooper and his last role in Disney as Captain Jack in the last Pirates of the Caribbean.
This movie would be a return to Disney and a fanbase that have loved his work over the years combining it with the fandom that lives for ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’! Could Christmas and Halloween come earlier than we think?!
A Family In Germany Have Put Up 444 Christmas Trees In Their House
Its Christmas all year round for this family!
It’s Christmas time and the Yuletide season is SERIOUSLY alive and well at the Jeromin family’s Rintelin home in the north-western German state of Lower Saxony.
While most Germans head up the ladder to get down the dusty Christmas decorations boxes from the attic, Thomas and Susanne Jeromin have more to handle than most.
The couple is no less than German World Record holders and for this year’s tenth anniversary have ramped things up and set up a total of 444 trees decorated head to toe with baubles and tinsel and lights. That is 24 more than last year’s grand total of 420.
Olaf Kuchenbecker, who visited the home to count the trees and award the 2021 record said: “The key here is the most decorated Christmas trees in one place, and the Jeromin family really is world leader here, by a long way. This season, today here in Rinteln there are 444 trees. And I have counted to make sure. And what is important for the record is that the houses are fully decorated.
“They have to look the same as if you just had one in your living room, so with candles, or light garlands with baubles etc. as you imagine a typical Christmas tree. The size, though, is not important.”
No two trees are the same, with a huge variety of festive colours and themes: Storm Troopers, superheroes, smiley faces, fruits, and much more.
On top of that, more than 10,000 Christmas balls and 300 strings of fairy lights are used in the display.
The couple, who lovingly decorate each tree by hand, each year start putting up the trees months before Christmas in order to have it up by the first Advent Sunday (the first Sunday of December) in Germany.
The Christmas trees are omnipresent in the flat. Even the bedroom is overflowing with them. But the Jeromin family definitely wants to continue with their Christmas tree passion.
And so far they face no threat to their world dominance.
Hey! If you’re looking for Christmas markets to visit this holiday season, we’ve got you covered.
