In a recent scoop from The New Yorker, we learned that Gerwig, the creative genius behind “Little Women” and the upcoming “Barbie” movie, is donning her writing and directing cap to bring the Chronicles of Narnia to life in a whole new way. It’s like a dream come true for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Narnia’s journey.

Now, we don’t have all the magical details just yet. Gerwig is keeping her cards close to her chest about which Narnia books she’ll be working her cinematic wizardry on. But the important thing is that the wheels of progress are finally turning in the Narnian world, and we can hardly contain our excitement!
To rewind the clock a bit, back in 2005 Disney released the first movie in the series ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe‘ which was a global hit and led to two sequels in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian‘ and ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader‘
Then in October 2018, Netflix made headlines by joining forces with The C.S. Lewis Company in a mega-deal that promised to bring Narnia back to life on screens both big and small. It was like Christmas came early for Narnia lovers everywhere. And if that wasn’t thrilling enough, a year later, they brought in Matthew Alrich, the creative mind behind Disney’s “Coco,” to steer the ship on this epic voyage.
But then, silence. We waited with bated breath, wondering when we’d finally get to step through that wardrobe again. And now, it seems the wait is over, as Gerwig takes the helm to guide us through Narnia’s wondrous realms.
Gerwig’s track record with cherished childhood classics is nothing short of spectacular. Her take on “Little Women” was an absolute delight, and her upcoming “Barbie” movie has Barbie fans buzzing with anticipation. So, it’s safe to say that we’re in very capable hands for this epic Narnia adventure.
