The murderer is coming back for another season!

Watch Our Video of the Week

We loved Netflix and that’s before we saw…..YOU. Since then we have been hooked and there’s a new season on the horizon!

You season four was distributed in two parts via Netflix. The first framed Joe Goldberg in a more redeeming light and led viewers down the route of a fairly standard whodunit, but the second delivered an epic surprise that permanently transformed our serial murderer protagonist.

But what does this imply for the show’s future and the irrepressible whispering Joe Goldberg?

Here’s what we have gathered so far!

Joe and his monotonous narration will return for a fifth and final season, according to Netflix.

Following the fourth season, Netflix announced Joe’s retirement, noting, ‘Joe Goldberg will return for the fifth and final season of YOU in 2024.’

The showrunner Sera Gamble had previously hinted that there was still life in the show yet ‘We have an idea for season five that we’re excited about’ but also made the point that they wouldn’t carry on if the story felt finished.

“It was never anyone’s intention to run this one into the ground,” she told the publication. “When we’re done, we’ll be done. And we’ll pack it up. Even in the early conversations with Penn, the idea was not to crank out episodes forever; it’s to feel like we have told the complete story.

So when can we expect it?

The fourth season of You was confirmed in October 2021, with filming beginning in March 2022, before part one was released in February 2023, thus it might theoretically be released in summer 2024 if the trend is followed.

The continuing SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents major studios and streaming services, might, nevertheless, have an influence on the production release schedule.

It might not be until late 2024 that we see new episodes of You on Netflix.

BUT we do have a trailer below which shows many of the characters Joe has met in previous seasons and who might reappear in the finale!

The fourth season finale of You has set us for a more terrifying Joe, who has had enough of trying to explain his heinous crimes through monologue. We’ll have to wait and see how it fits in with his new high-flying existence with Kate.
