Breaking Bad Actor Dies Aged 83

The Star of Breaking Bad has sadly passed away.

His family has reported that Mark Margolis passed away at the age of 83.

According to a statement from the performer’s family, the actor “passed away following a short illness” on Thursday at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

His wife Jacqueline and son Morgan were by his bedside as he passed away.

Margolis starred in more than 100 TV shows and motion pictures, such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective with Jim Carrey and Scarface.

However, he was arguably most recognised for his role as Hector Salamanca in the television series Breaking Bad. In this role, he played a wheelchair-bound criminal leader who could only communicate by ringing a bell similar to that found in a hotel lobby.

Margolis then played the same part in the Better Call Saul prequel to Breaking Bad, for which he received a 2012 Emmy nomination for outstanding guest actor.

He also won praise for his role as an HIV-positive Sicilian crime lord in the prison drama Oz.

Bryan Cranston who starred alongside Margolis in Breaking Bad shared an emotional tribute on Instagram to his costar.

Many of his former co stars over the years expressed their sadness at hearing the news but celebrated a man who was a joy to work with and who helped created one of television’s most iconic villains to life.
