This tree is where the touching scene of the re-encounter between Kevin and his mum. Kevin is asking the tree to allow him one single sight of his mummy as a Christmas gift.
To remind you, Home Alone 2 is the one where Kevin McCallister gets lost from his father at the airport and mistakenly gets on a plane to New York City during the Christmas holidays. The McCallisters only realise little Kevin is missing after reaching Florida. After tricking his way into the Plaza Hotel and exploring the benign effects of Big Apple’s sugar rush, Kevin stumbles upon the Sticky Bandits and adventure ensues.
Kevin says: “I know I don’t deserve a Christmas. Even if I did a good did, I don’t want any presents. Instead, I want to take back any mean thing I ever said to my family. Even if they don’t take back things that they said. I don’t care.”
And continues, “If it isn’t possible and I can’t see all of them, can I just see my mother? I’ll never want another thing as long as I live. I just want my mother. I know I won’t see her tonight but promise I can see her again. Sometime. Anytime. Even if it’s just once and only for a couple of minutes. I just need to tell her I’m sorry.”
Both the inside and outside of this home were used as a set for the film Home Alone. The private home is said to be located at 671 Lincoln Avenue in the village of Winnetka.
In Home Alone Kevin is left behind by the McCallisters when they rush to catch a flight to Paris for Christmas. The Wet Bandits try and burglarize the home but Kevin stops them from doing that by burning them, glueing feathers to their face and pretending there is a party going on.
Home Sweet Home Alone was filmed primarily in many locations in Canada, this home is in Montreal in the suburb of Beaconsfield. A local resident said the entire street had a festive air during filming with the lovely Christmas lights.
In Home Sweet Home Alone, they have switched things up a bit so the plot is about a couple who tries to steal the heirloom from a troublesome kid. The film was released November 2021 and began shootings in February 2020 but was paused due to the pandemic and only finished shooting in April 2021.
