We give the world’s best beaches a variety of names, and although some don’t convey anything about what we might expect if we visit them, others do. The latter category includes Flamingo Beach, which is a beach where you can get up close and personal with these gorgeous pinkish creatures.
Flamingo Beach is located on the Renaissance Island, a long stretch of land adjacent to the island of Aruba. Aruba is a member of the Dutch Caribbean, a group of islands off the coast of Venezuela in the Lesser Antilles. Despite the fact that the islands are theoretically closer to South America than the Netherlands, they have been Dutch territory since the colonies were established in 1815.
The Renaissance Island, where Flamingo Beach is located, is owned by Renaissance Aruba Resort, which means it is a private island accessible only by boat.
You can either be a guest of the Renassaince Resort in Aruba or purchase a ticket regardless of where you are staying in Aruba to get on a boat that will carry you to the island. The second alternative, on the other hand, is a little more involved, and here’s why.
For starters, if you stay at the Renaissance Resort in Aruba, you can visit the island for free and receive day permits to visit as many times as you want. The departure is quite well-organized, since the boat leaves from inside the hotel every 15 minutes. If you’re staying at another hotel or resort, though, the ticket will cost you $125. Furthermore, you will not be able to reserve tickets in advance because the availability of tickets is dependent on the hotel’s occupancy. As a result, if the hotel has 20% to 30% vacancies, there will be room for passengers who are not staying at the resort.
Because Flamingo Beach is geared for couples, you might want to think twice about bringing your kids there for one reason: youngsters can only visit between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
This may appear to be a bit insulting, but the resort’s administration chose to implement this regulation in order to protect the pink residents and offer their guests with the greatest quiet and relaxation. This is the only time you can take your children to the island if they are set in their ways and insist on going. The good news is that children under the age of twelve do not have to pay for a boat ticket.
Flamingos can only be found on this private island in Aruba, and only in its adult section; they are not found on the family side of the island. Everyone is welcome to feed the flamingos, and as soon as you arrive at the beach, you will notice a vendor selling food to feed the lovely birds. Don’t be upset if they aren’t hungry – after all, everyone is trying to feed them or take instagrammable images of them, so you may have to wait your turn to take photos with them as well! I mean who doesn’t want a self for the gram with a actual flamingo!
Whilst the resort certainly welcomes it guests, you may get a very different response if you choose to visit here…
