The Nun, a Conjuring series spin-off, will be returning to theatres soon, with Warner Bros. confirming a sequel during their CinemaCon press conference.
The first film was released in 2018, and a sequel has been in the works ever since. James Wan and Peter Safran, who previously worked on The Conjuring, were announced as producers for the sequel in April 2019, with Akela Cooper writing the script.
Since 2019, absolutely nothing has been heard about The Nun 2’s development. It’s become extinct, thanks in part to COVID-19. Fans of the franchise will be relieved to learn that it is still on the Warner Bros. docket, albeit with little concrete information.
Bonnie Aarons has announced that she will reprise her role as Valak / The Nun in the sequel, marking the nun’s third appearance in the Conjuring universe since her first appearance in The Conjuring 2.
The Nun was a big hit at the box office in 2018, grossing $365 million on a $22 million budget. Its critical reception, on the other hand, was not quite as positive, with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a 24 percent reviewers score.
Although no release date has been set, Nunheads can rest assured that the spooks will arrive at some point. Another film in the Conjuring world is in the works, with The Crooked Man, who appeared in The Conjuring 2, getting his own movie.
