The Little Mermaid made a major impression on Disney+ this weekend after mesmerising audiences all across the world and delighting viewers with the adventures of Ariel!

The studio’s Academy Award-winning animated musical, which stars Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy, was released earlier this year in a live-action version that caused many headlines across the world.

The film had 16 million views in its first five days of streaming on Disney+, making it the most watched Disney movie debut on the service since Hocus Pocus 2.

The Rob Marshall movie enjoyed a successful summer in theatres, breaking into the top five domestic and international grossing movies of the season.

Although some fans were unconvinced by the alterations from the original Disney animated picture, moviegoers liked the movie, giving it a “A” CinemaScore and a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

With $570 million at the international box office, The Little Mermaid—which also stars Javier Bardem, Daveed Diggs, and Awkwafina—is among the top 10 movies of 2023.

Despite the viewing figures for ‘The Little Mermaid’ it seems that Disney fans have has enough of Disney creating live action remakes with ‘Snow White’ set to be the newest remake in the mix.

The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs director’s son has denounced the planned remake, saying that it will make Walt Disney and his father “turn in their graves.”

The new “woke” version, scheduled for debut in 2024, has been criticised by David Hand, whose father of the same name worked with Walt Disney to create the iconic 1937 cartoon.

The ‘seven dwarfs‘ will be replaced by’magical creatures’ in the new live-action feature, a contentious modification made in an effort to make the picture more inclusive for a contemporary audience.

Disney decided to hire Rachel Zegler for their live action adaptation of the first Disney princess ‘Snow White‘ however the company and the actress have received bad press from fans.

The 22-year-old actress has drawn a lot of criticism after admitting that she ‘hated’ the original 1937 version of the film and called the plot ‘strange,’ with reference to the Prince Charming role as a ‘stalker.’
