In the midst of Johnny Depp’s defamation trial, a petition calling for Amber Heard’s removal from the upcoming Aquaman 2 film has surpassed four million signatures.

The Change.org petition was begun in December 2019, months after Depp originally sued his ex-wife, but it has gained new traction as more information about the couple’s marriage has come to light.

An audio tape of Heard admitting to hitting Depp was given to the jury last week.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor told the court during his final moments of testimony that he feels he was a victim of domestic abuse.

The petition says: “Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognised, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.

“Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”

Heard allegedly punched Depp twice in the face in one episode, and she allegedly severed Depp’s finger in another while in Australia, which is stated in the petition.

Jeanne Larson started the petition, which is directed to DC Entertainment and Courtney Simmons, the SVP of Publicity and Communications at DC Warner Bros.

The petition also states: “Since Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp, she has systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, repeating multiple accounts of fake incidents in which she had actually abused Johnny Depp, but lied and created false accounts of him being the abuser.”

Heard is ready to reprise her role as Meera with Jason Momoa in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is expected to hit theatres in March of next year.

The petition to have her removed from the role is attempting to reach three million signatures.
