According to reports, Lucien Laviscount, who is well-known to viewers of Netflix’s Emily in Paris as Alfie, is a candidate to succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

In the midst of rumours about who may succeed Daniel Craig in the venerable role, Lucien Laviscount is apparently being considered to lead the James Bond film franchise.

Producer Barbara Broccoli, 62, who co-owns Eon Productions, the production business behind the franchise, is reported to have noticed the actor, 30, after seeing him on television.

It happens amid continuous rumours about who will succeed Daniel, 54, who has portrayed the late author Ian Fleming’s fictional James Bond in five motion pictures over the past 15 years.

Producers supposedly had Lucien on their minds. His most recent role was in the film Emily in Paris as Alfie, the love interest of Emily Cooper, played by 33-year-old Lily Collins.

However, they warned that his time on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011 might be a “sticking point.” He came on the programme, according to the source, when his acting profession wasn’t as well-known.

The insider claimed that Lucien, who finished fifth on the reality TV competition, was well-liked back then and that his fan following now “stretches generations.”

“That is a fantasy for Barbara who is very taken with him,” they continued.

Coronation Street and Waterloo Road have both featured Lucien in acting roles. He nearly appeared in the casts of Scream Queens, Snatch, and Katy Keene.

In the past, Barbara Wilson, who co-produces the James Bond film series with her 80-year-old brother Michael G. Wilson, has discussed replacing Daniel in the leading role.

Regarding casting, Barbara stated on the podcast Girls on Film in 2021: “The actor should be a British national. That is the crucial factor. And British may be, as we all know, a variety of things.”

Barbara stated that she is open to some diversity in the role, implying that the character might eventually be non-binary and that the next actor playing the part might not be white.

She predicted that the figure “would be a man” at the time. And more lately, her brother Michael has made fun of the fact that a person in their thirties is probably getting the part.

The Mirror contacted the representatives of Barbara and EON Productions on the rumours. We also spoke with Lucien’s agents.
