Every young actress in Hollywood has aspired to play this part.

However, it appears like Ozark’s Julia Garner has been chosen to play Madonna, according to a Tuesday story claiming she has been offered the star-making role.

However, it is unclear whether the 28-year-old actress has formally accepted, as Garner’s team is still mulling it over, according to Variety, despite a source saying they are ‘considering and anticipated to accept the offer.’

The actress from Inventing Anna was first linked to the role in August 2020, when Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary began following her on Instagram.

The eagerly awaited film has been in the works for several years, and it was delayed when Madonna, 63, split out with original screenwriter Diabo Cody.

Pugh, a 26-year-old British actress, was another prominent contender for the lead part, with one industry insider speculating that Pugh’s management had purposefully publicised her job in the Dune sequel in order to encourage Madonna to offer it to her.

Insiders disclosed information of the ‘gruelling’ audition process in March of this year, as the search for the woman who would play the Queen Of Pop dragged on for months.

According to insiders speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, auditions may include 11-hour choreography sessions with Madonna’s choreographer, followed by a choreography session with the Material Girl herself.

Actresses apparently completed readings and singing auditions with Madonna herself during callbacks.

Current draughts of the script, according to insiders, end with her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour; but, as the plot develops, this storyline may change.

The actress will be required to participate in singing and dancing sequences in the film, and whoever is cast in the leading role will be required to undertake a month of intensive training before to production.

The film is now in development, and Universal is serving as the distributor.

The studio has yet to approve the film, which usually happens when a final script, budget, and cast are finalised.
According to a source close to Madonna, “a key aspect is ultimately who will be cast.”
However, if Garner accepts the post, things may move more quickly.
