The British actor amassed a large following while portraying Geralt of Rivia in the show’s two seasons on Netflix.

But Liam Hemsworth will take his place after the forthcoming third season.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with The Witcher saga, it is a live-action television series based on the eponymous book and computer game.

According to the official summary, “The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family and is based on the best-selling fantasy book series.

“The story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.”

Despite the fact that it has been a huge success with fans of the story, Cavill shocked everyone by announcing his retirement.

Fans also think that the actor was considering the choice in the days before the announcement.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cavill—who will be playing Superman once more—was a guest and was questioned about how he approaches acting roles.

He said: “It’s just about belief. If you believe what you’re doing is the right thing then you’ll be able to keep on doing it.

“It’s also important to know that if you realise you’re doing the wrong thing, that’s when you stop doing the wrong thing.

“You don’t just keep going just because, because that leads down a dark path.”

After his declaration, fans claimed that they thought he was “uncomfortable” when responding and that it appeared as though he may have been considering his circumstances on The Witcher at the moment.

One person said: “You can tell something happened behind the scenes with The Witcher.

Another commented: “He clearly isn’t comfortable lying on camera. He could have said nothing but he had to tell the truth.”

“Huge respect for him for believing in the origin of The Witcher,” put a third. “And not just be standing and looking at them going completely away from the origin.”

There have been rumours that Cavill and the show’s writers had a falling out over the path the series should follow, with Cavill preferring to keep true to the novels.
