Schumer decided to use her Instagram platform to illustrate the effects of aging, sharing two “before” photos from an event in 2012, where she sported a radiant smile and a dark purple dress.
In contrast to her youthful appearance in the “before” photos, Schumer shared an “after” image that served as a reminder to her 13 million followers of what lies ahead. In this photo, she is shown hooked up to an IV, wearing a hospital gown, with disheveled hair framing her face. The smile from her earlier photos has disappeared entirely.
Schumer captioned the post with a message directed at twenty-somethings: “Warning 20 somethings I looked like this at your age. Swipe. Life is coming for you.”
Although Schumer did not disclose when or where the hospital photo was taken, her fans found the post relatable and responded with humorous and empathetic comments. Some expressed nostalgia for their younger days, while others acknowledged the reality of aging with humor.
One person wrote, “Our bodies didn’t know how good they had it! Had I known- I would have been wearing a bikini top and cut offs every day. Even in winter.”
