Prosecutors have revealed that Alec Baldwin will face two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the tragic on-set shooting of cameraman Halyna Hutchins.

According to CNN, Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who played the armourer in the film, will each face two counts of involuntary manslaughter.

Mary Carmack-Altwies, the district attorney for New Mexico’s first judicial district, and special prosecutor Andrea Reeb made the announcement on Thursday (January 19th).

Hutchins, 42, tragically passed away after suffering a catastrophic injury while working on the Rust film set in New Mexico.

On October 21, the 63-year-old actor was given a working fake gun, and he fired a round that wounded Hutchins and the director Joel Souza.

In an emotional interview with ABC News, Alec had stated that he had not pulled the trigger of the rifle during the incident.

Baldwin was questioned by George Stephanopoulos if the replica gun’s trigger had been pushed. The 64-year-old responded: “Yes,” “Well, no one pulled the trigger. I refrained from firing the gun.”

In response, Stephanopoulos said: “So you never pulled the trigger?”

“No, no, no, no, no,” Baldwin said. “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them. Never.”

According to the LA Times, team personnel claimed that Baldwin was getting ready to film a sequence in which he plays a hardened Kansas bandit in the 1880s before to firing the working fake gun.

The LA Times also stated that the faux gun wasn’t supposed to contain any ammunition or gunpowder.

Baldwin apparently showed the audience what he was going to do before the cameras started rolling after giving the camera team time to set up their positions. Hutchins and director Joel Souza were shot when the gun was discharged.

Immediately after, Baldwin reportedly kept repeating the words: “What the f*** just happened?”

In a lawsuit, script supervisor Mamie Mitchell claimed that Baldwin “intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired the loaded gun even though the next scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of a firearm” while she was standing close to Baldwin and dialling 911 to report the shooting.

Jason Bowles, Gutierrez-attorney, Reed’s asserted in the days following the incident that his client had nothing to do with the live rounds ending up on location. He is expecting the inquiry will identify the culprit.

At the time, he added that the set had been “tampered with” prior to the arrival of authorities to look into the fatal occurrence.

At the time, he added that the set had been “tampered with” prior to the arrival of authorities to look into the fatal occurrence.

Bowles said: “We are convinced that this was sabotage and Hannah is being framed. We believe that the scene was tampered with as well before the police arrived.

“The truth finding process demands that the District Attorney and FBI run down all of the evidence, including the nature of those live rounds.

“This morning we offered to share additional, critical information with the Sheriff’s Office and are awaiting their response on the sharing of information.”
