If paddling through a flooded limestone mine, lighted by the brilliance of underwater LED lights seems like your idea of fun, then its time to head to Red River Gorge!
SUP Kentucky, a one-hour drive from Lexington, offers a number of outdoor activities, but the “Red River Gorge Underground Cavern Glow” is by far the most popular, taking passengers on a one-hour tour through an abandoned, 100-year-old mine complete with an underground waterfall!

“Keep an eye out for rainbow trout, which frequently accompany the tour,” the company’s website warns. “You might spot a Kentucky brown bat resting on the limestone walls if you’re lucky.”
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity costs $75 per adult and $25 per child (ages 3-12) and is limited to eight people. SUP Kentucky promises to capture cool shots of you and your group while you are on the tour. Single and double kayaks are available.
