A doctor has given a serious warning to folks who use their laptops while they’re charging. It’s something most of us have done at some point. Whether we’re working or playing games, we’ve all been in a situation where our laptop is running low on battery, so we plug it in and keep using it.
However, one doctor has explained why this can be dangerous. In a TikTok video, Dr. Janine Bowring says that using your laptop while it’s charging can increase your exposure to something called electromagnetic fields (EMFs). These are invisible waves produced wherever electricity is used, according to Healthline.
Dr. Bowring warns, “It’s not good for your cells and can also make you feel tired. Some studies have even linked it to cancer.”
She also gives some advice on how to reduce your exposure to EMFs. Her first tip is to put your devices on airplane mode. She also suggests taking a magnesium supplement called ‘magnesium bisglycinate,’ which has been shown to help protect your cells from EMFs.
Additionally, she encourages people to spend time outside in natural sunlight to help counteract the effects of EMFs.
Many people have commented on her advice. Some admit they’ll still use their laptops while charging, while others say they never realized the potential risks.
You may have heard advice about how to charge your phone or laptop, but what do the experts recommend? Microsoft suggests not keeping your laptop plugged in all the time when it’s fully charged, as this can make the battery deteriorate faster. Apple agrees, recommending unplugging your laptop when it’s fully charged. They suggest using your laptop on the go and only plugging it in when you need to charge it. So, the bottom line is, you don’t need to keep your laptop plugged in all the time.
