Prince Harry ‘In Tears’ As King Charles Makes Brutal New Announcement

Prince Harry was reportedly left deeply emotional following a recent announcement by King Charles that many have interpreted as a significant snub.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, and his wife, Meghan Markle, 42, remain among the most talked-about members of the royal family, largely due to their decision to step down from senior royal duties and break from long-standing traditions. Since their departure, they have focused on various public service initiatives, but tensions between them and the royal family persist.

Recently, the royal family faced criticism for allegedly disregarding Prince Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie, on his fifth birthday. Now, another rift has emerged, leaving Prince Harry reportedly ‘in tears’ after a move by his father.

The strained relationship between Prince Harry and King Charles is well-documented, but his relationship with his older brother, Prince William, 41, has also been under scrutiny. The two brothers, who were deeply affected by the tragic death of their mother, Princess Diana, in 1997, have seen their bond deteriorate over the years, particularly after Prince Harry’s departure from royal life.

Biographer Andrew Morton once described their relationship as “incredibly intimate.” However, following the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, a source told Us Weekly that Prince William “doesn’t even recognize” his younger brother anymore. Despite lingering hope for reconciliation, their interactions remain distant, as was evident at King Charles’ coronation in May 2023.

Prince Harry’s recent visit to the UK has drawn attention, particularly due to reports that he did not meet with King Charles, allegedly due to the King’s ‘full programme.’ However, conflicting reports suggest that Prince Harry declined an offer to stay at a royal residence during his visit, adding to the ongoing speculation about the fractured family ties.

Amid this drama, King Charles made an announcement that many believe was timed deliberately. Royal author and commentator Tom Quinn told The Mirror that the King’s decision was meant to send a clear message to Prince Harry, reinforcing his exclusion from the royal family. According to Quinn, “Harry was in tears when he heard. What makes it much worse is that the role is being given to the very man who Harry sees as the cause of so many of his problems—his brother. And the announcement was deliberately made during Harry’s brief visit to the UK to have maximum impact; it shows Harry that he really is no longer welcome.”

The announcement in question was King Charles’ appointment of Prince William as the new Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps, a position many assumed would go to Prince Harry. This decision is especially significant given Prince Harry’s military service with the corps in Afghanistan, an experience he has spoken of fondly as one of the few times he felt truly valued for his own merits rather than his royal status.

While some see this as a major slight, royal commentator Pandora Forsyth defended the decision, telling Sky News that Prince William was the “right fit for the role.” Forsyth explained: “Prince Harry knew this when he left as a senior member of the working family, that he would have to give up his honorary military titles. So, unfortunately, this is just now the reality for Harry. And it’s brutal and of course, it’s going to hit home because it’s very personal for him.”

Prince Harry has previously referred to Prince William as both his ‘beloved brother and archnemesis’ in Spare. Given recent developments, that sentiment seems more relevant than ever.
