After viewing comments from some of her biggest admirers earlier this week, Jamie Lee Curtis was overtaken with emotion.

The beloved horror film franchise’s final instalment, Halloween Ends, is currently being promoted by the 63-year-old actress.

In John Carpenter’s slasher movie Halloween from 1978, Curtis made her feature film debut. She portrayed Laurie Strode, a high school student who on Halloween night becomes the victim of serial killer Michael Myers.

Thankfully, Strode escapes Michael Myers’ attack, solidifying her reputation as one of the very first “final girls” in the slasher film genre.

Six more times, in the sequels Halloween II (1981), Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), Halloween: Resurrection (2002), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021), and most recently, Halloween Ends, Curtis would play the popular part once again (2022).

Curtis would go on to star in other horror films like The Fog, Prom Night, Terror Train, and Roadgames, making her not only a cornerstone of the Halloween franchise but of the slasher genre as a whole as a result of the role.

Curtis is referred to by fans as the “Scream Queen” in addition to being known as the “Final Girl” and the “Final Girl.”

Now, some of Curtis’ biggest fans have lavished her with love and gratitude in a video advertising the debut of the new film.

In a picture uploaded to the Halloween Instagram page, Curtis can be seen watching a video montage of some of her admirers calling her the ” greatest ‘Final Girl’ in the world”.

Another admirer exults: “You mean a lot to myself, and horror fans and film fans across the world.”

“I love you, we love you, thank you,” another adds, as Curtis can be seen becoming more and more emotional.

“Thank you, guys,” Curtis says, before gesturing to the camera and saying: “Turn this f***ing thing off, I can’t…”

Curtis pauses for a while to gather herself before saying to her fans: “It’s clearly painful, saying goodbye is terrible in general, and nobody likes to say that. I won’t say that, then. Just a quick thank you, please.

“It’s a legacy that I’m very, very proud is attached to me and one that I treat with a lot of respect. So, Happy Halloween everybody, God bless you all. Thank you for everything.”

In an essay to PEOPLE, Curtis also wrote about how it felt to finally be saying goodbye to the role of Laurie, saying: ” “When I look scared in a movie, it’s because I am scared. I am scared right now, as I hang up my bell-bottoms and say goodbye to Halloween.

“Life is scary. But Laurie taught me that life can also be beautiful, filled with love and art and life! Thank you all for MINE!”

Jamie Lee Curtis has already started looking towards the future and has approached Disney proposing a sequel to her hit movie Freaky Friday. Staring both herself and Lindsay Lohan. Who she hopes will join her in the sequel.
