Amber Heard Confirmed To Be In The New Aquaman Film

Aquaman 2 has faced many push backs in it’s but it has now been revealed that troubled actress Amber Heard WILL return as Mera in Warner Bros.’ ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom‘.

After Heard’s well publicised and televised defamation battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp, there had been rumours that her character had been deleted from the Aquaman sequel; however, Heard herself had rejected this back in June 2022.

During monday’s two-hour CinemaCon presentation by Warner Bros the showcase began with the first trailer for their new film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The teaser show has been said to include Heard’s Mera in two quick glimpses of underwater fight scenes however Warner Bros has decided to not post this trailer online on any of their official accounts. Despite a petition last year reaching over 4,600,000 signatures to have her removed from the film it seems that WB have decided that they didn’t want to refilm or recast the role.

It’s still unclear how much of a part she’ll have in the sequel given that she claimed during her defamation battle with Johnny Depp that a significant portion of her scenes were removed.

During her courtroom case Amber said ‘I fought really hard to stay in the movie — they didn’t want to include me in the film. I was given a script. And then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another. They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch’.

The first movie which also starred Nicole Kidman as Atlanna took in $335.1 million domestic and $1.148 billion worldwide despite critics giving mixed reviews. Amber Heard’s case with Johnny Depp has put a dark cloud over the release of Aquaman 2…we will have to see what fans and movie fans think when it is finally released in cinemas this year.
